Ashanti Region

Bonwire is a town in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal district within the Ashanti Region of Ghana, where the most popular cloth in Africa, popularly known as “Kente”, originated. Kente, known as nwentoma in Akan, is an indigenous Ghanaian textile, made of interwoven cloth strips of silk and cotton.

The Kente is worn by the king of the Ashanti Kingdom in Ghana.
