A lighthouse is a tower, building, or another type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and to serve as a navigational aid for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways. James – town lighthouse is one of the numerous in Ghana located in Accra, the capital of Greater Accra and Ghana respectively.

It is a 28-meter (92 ft) structure originally built in the 1930s, replacing an earlier lighthouse that had been built in 1871.
It consists of a stone tower with lantern and gallery, attached to a keeper’s house. Both lighthouse and keeper’s house are painted with red and white horizontal bands.
